Norman E. S. Greene has extensive experience in various areas of complex civil litigation, including environmental and toxic tort litigation and construction/labor law litigation.
He has primary responsibility for the firm’s considerable appellate practice. Mr. Greene has argued appeals before appellate courts in New York as well as the New York Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
He has conservatively argued over two hundred appeals in The Appellate Division for the Fourth Judicial Department alone, thereby establishing case law precedents particularly in many areas of tort law. Of even greater significance is the fact that he has prevailed in New York’s highest court on a number of occasions, thereby contributing to the settled law of New York in decisions rendered by that Court such as Misseritti v. Mark IV Construction, 86 NY 2d 487 (1995) [establishing limitations on causes of action arising under the NY Scaffold Law - Labor Law §240(1)], DiPonzio v. Riordan, 89 NY 2d 578 (1997) [clarifying the legal concepts of scope of duty, foreseeability and proximate cause in relation to tort law since the landmark Palsgraf decision by Justice Cardoza] and Allstate Ins. Co. v Stein, 1 NY 3d 416 (2004) [determining the onset of the Statute of Limitations of the insurance carrier's subrogation action against the other driver].
Prior to joining Bouvier, he was a partner in private practice for many years, as well as an Assistant U.S. Attorney where he handled the prosecution of organized crime and drug-related cases.
He has also been honored by inclusion in the Buffalo Law Journal and Business First‘s edition of “Who’s Who in Law in Western New York” for many years and recently was honored by Martindale Hubbell for maintaining an “AV Preeminent” rating, the Highest Possible Peer Review Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards, for the past 30 years.
